SoftSun
Daylight in the Dark
When worlds and genres collide, the result is SoftSun. Norwegian singer/bassist Pia Isaksen provides the dreamy vocals and Californian natives guitarist Gary Arce and drummer Dan Joeright bring the desert rock to create heavy shoegaze sounds.
FEATURED TRACK: “Daylight in the Dark”
Flora Hibberd
Swirl
Flora Hibberd is a Paris-based British songwriter. When I first “Jesse,” it reminded me a bit of Aldous Harding — unique voice and phrasing along with engaging alt-pop licks and an artful intersection of words and music.
FEATURED TRACK: “Jesse”
Homer
Ensatina
Drummer/producer Homer Steinweiss has worked with a multitude of artists (Sharon Jones, Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse to name a few) and is a well-known figure in the New York retro soul scene. He’s finally released a solo album of psychedelic soul.
FEATURED TRACK: "Deep Sea"
Thy Catafalque
XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek
Thy Catafalque is Hungarian avante-garde metal band formed in 1998 by Tamás Kátai. The group’s aptly named 12th album brings in folk and prog elements (maybe a bit of 80s goth too) along with classical and acoustic instruments to give the music a unique depth.
FEATURED TRACK: "A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek"
Alice Ivy
Do What Makes You Happy
If you need some upbeat party music for the holidays, look no further than the featured track from Alice Ivy’s latest, the aptly-titled Do What Makes You Happy. Elsewhere, Australian artist’s funk and R&B boasts guest collaborators like Mallrat, Kah-Lo, Jelani Blackman, and others.
FEATURED TRACK: “Howlin’ At The New Moon feat. Mayer Hawthorne”
